Kaeo Ngoen Thong Road

Kaeo Ngoen Thong Road (Thai: ถนนแก้วเงินทอง) is a narrow road in form of soi (side-street) in Taling Chan District, Bangkok's Thonburi side. It passes through the following khwaengs (sub-district) of Taling Chan: Khlong Chak Phra, Bang Phrom, Bang Ramat, and Chimphli.

The road begins at the foot of Wat Kaeo Bridge, a bridge over Khlong Chak Phra, a canal acted a boundary between Taling Chan's Khlong Chak Phra and Bangkok Noi's Bang Khun Si areas. It is considered a continuation route of Soi Charansanitwong 35 (Soi Wat Mali).

Then it goes westward cuts across Pak Nam Fang Nuea Road, then bend northward intersect with Bang Phrom Road at Wat Kaeo junction. Across Khlong Bang Phrom and continued to run span Khlong Bang Ramat up till it terminates at the intersection point of Chimphli Road near Southern Railway and Bang Ramat Railway Halt, with Taling Chan District Office (a site of Taling Chan Floating Market).

It was originally named "Chimphli–Wat Ratchada Thisathan Road" (ถนนฉิมพลี–วัดรัชฎาธิษฐาน), later renamed to Kaeo Ngoen Thong Road as it is today for auspiciousness. Its name means "crystal–silver–gold road" owing it runs through three temples, namely Wat Kaeo (crystal temple), Wat Ratchada Thisathan (silver temple), and Wat Kanchana Singhas (gold temple), respectively. The road was built in the 1970s.

There is no direct bus service on this road, but can be accessed from BMTA's air-conditioned bus line 79 (Borommaratchachonnani Depot–Ratchaprasong) in Chimphli Road side, including local buses and motorbike taxi.

In addition to passing through the three temples mentioned above. Kaeo Ngoen Thong Road also passes two interesting temples, Wat Re Rai, a temple is in the far deep alleyway and not accessible by any car, believed to be the death place of Sunthorn Phu,[1] and Wat Ang Khula, an abandoned temple since the early Rattanakosin period (18th century). At present, only the pavilion and principle Buddha image remain.[2]
