Karishma Vaswani

Karishma Vaswani is a Singaporean journalist and reporter who has worked for the BBC in various positions since 2003. As of 2021, she presents Newsday and the Asia Business Report on BBC World News. She was previously the network's Asia Business correspondent from 2015 to 2021.[1]

Vaswani began her career as a CNBC Asia producer until 2003 when she joined the BBC. She started off as a reporter and producer operating from Singapore. In 2005, whilst based in Mumbai, she became the first to the present the India Business Report.[2][3] She was the Indonesia correspondent and editor from 2009 to 2015.[4][5]

Early life

Vaswani was born in Singapore to a family from Sindh and grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia. She attended Jakarta International School. She went on to study English and American Literature at the University of Warwick in England, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998.[6]
