Kingdom of David

The Kingdom or dynasty of David is first referred to in the Hebrew Bible. The first indication is when the shepherd boy David, son of Jesse, was anointed king by the prophet Samuel as ordered by God and recorded in the Book of 1 Samuel 16:12.[1] For many years archeologists questioned the veracity of the ancient account as being historical as no ancient textual or artifactual evidence references that such a kingdom had ever existed outside of the pages of the bible. Then in 1993 The Tel Dan, or “House of David” inscription, was discovered at the site of Tel Dan in northern Israel
