Kosmos 1782 is one of over 2,400 artificial satellites launched by the Soviet Union as part of the Kosmos programme.[1]

Data

On September 30, 1986, the satellite was launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Soviet Union. It was sent into orbit around the planet Earth by a carrier rocket. At launch, the satellite weighed 1400 kg. Kosmos 1782 was an electronic reconnaissance, calling, and guidance satellite.[2][3][4]

Orbital Data

The satellite was launched into a low orbit around the Earth. The satellite's orbital period was 97.7 minutes, and the angle of inclination of the orbital plane relative to the equator plane was 82.5 degrees. It travelled the maximum distance from the Earth, 665 kilometres, and the shortest distance, 634 kilometres.
