Kosmos 2242

Kosmos-2242 is one of over 2400 Soviet artificial satellites launched under the Kosmos program. Kosmos-2242 was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, Russia, on April 16, 1993. The Cyclone-3 launch vehicle placed a satellite in orbit around the planet Earth. The mass of the satellite at launch was 2,000 kilograms. Kosmos-2242 was a satellite intended for electronic reconnaissance, reporting and guidance.[1][2]
