Fruhvirtová has a career-high WTA singles ranking of 334, achieved on 13 September 2021, and a best doubles ranking of world No. 653, achieved on 22 February 2021.

Early life and background

Linda was born on 1 May 2005 in Czech Republic. She has a younger sister, Brenda (born 2007),[1][2] who is also a tennis player. Linda and Brenda are some of the recipients of Patrick Mouratoglou's foundation. Linda has been training at the Mouratoglou Academy in Southern France since 2017; she also trained at the Chris Evert Academy in January 2021.[3]

Junior circuit

At the junior level, Fruhvirtová won the singles and doubles titles of the Les Petits As tournament. Her sister Brenda won the singles title the year after, making them the first members of the same family to win the title over two consecutive years.[4] Linda Fruhvirtová achieved an ITF Junior career-high ranking of world No. 10, on 20 January 2020.[5]

Professional tour

2020-2021: WTA Tour and top 400 debut

Fruhvirtová made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2020 Prague Open, receiving wildcards into the singles and doubles draws.[6][7]

She also received a wildcard for the 2021 Miami Open qualifying where she was defeated in the first round by Nina Stojanović. In April, she received a wildcard for the main draw at the WTA 250 Charleston Open where she won her first WTA singles match when Alize Cornet retired in the third set.[3][8] She progressed through the quarterfinals by defeating Emma Navarro in straight sets in the next round, before losing to eventual champion Astra Sharma. Linda, at only 15, was the youngest player at that time in the top 400 WTA rankings.
