Conception
On March 21, 2007, Duff released her fourth album, Dignity, and the accompanying tour began August 6, 2007.[3] Initially, it was reported that a filmed version of the tour would be released; the concert performed at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City was recorded.
Hollywood Records canceled the plans and decided not to release the DVD. Additionally, the planned reissue of the Dignity album was canceled, which was to have contained remixes of the previous songs and four new ones (Reach Out, Holiday, Love Is a Battlefield and Imperfection).[4] This led Duff to end the contract with her record company with the release of the compilation, Best of Hilary Duff.[5] Soon after, some videos were leaked that were initially going to be used as previews for the DVD.
Release
On November 24, 2009, iTunes, along with Live Nation, released the official album from the concert at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles. On June 9, 2010, after 4 years of waiting, the tour DVD was released, although it could only be purchased on iTunes for the United States.[1]
The Dignity Tour had Duff's best staging, compared to her previous 3 tours. According to critics, the show is very fast and dynamic, with a lot of energy thanks to Duff's fans.[6] On the tour, Duff had new choreography with professional dancers, better special effects with a brilliant play of lights and giant screens.
