Route
The route begins at the R102 (Grahamstown Road) near Swartkops and runs in north-west as Trunk Road and bypasses Swartkops to the south. It intersects with the M17 Dibanisa Road and continues in west-northwest. It then runs on the outskirts of the metropole through Perseverance and Redhouse and after a few kilometres it intersects with the R75 freeway (to Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage) at an interchange southwest of Despatch. It turns right and then right again into Despatch as Main Street and Botha Street. It intersects with the R75 freeway again at an off-ramp west of Despatch before shortly ending at an intersection with the M10 (Algoa Road) between Despatch and Uitenhage.
