MSN Murthy
Mutnuri Srinivas Narasimhamurthy (MSN Murthy) is an Indian violinist, vocalist[1] and teacher.[2] As a violinist, MSN Murthy is known for his soft and balanced presentation.[3] As a singer, it was reported that he has a no theatrics approach to singing.[4]
Early life and education
MSN Murthy started at seven years of age. He belongs to a family of classical musicians. His maternal grandparents Challa Narasimha Murthy and Challa Kameswaramma were patrons of music and dance. His mother Mutnuri Jalajakshi is also a vocalist.[5]
He started performing at the age of ten and was selected as a casual artist by All India Radio at the age of 14.[2] He graduated as an Electronics and Communications Engineer and worked for an organization for a couple of months. However, he preferred taking up a job as a staff artist in All India Radio, Vizag. He opted for voluntary retirement later.[2][5] His guru was the late Nallan Chakravarthula Krishnamacharyulu.[6]
Career/Performances
Murthy has performed in India and outside, including venues such as Lincoln Centre in New York[5] and Kalabharty.[7][8]
Awards
He was awarded the Dwaram Venkata Swamy Naidu Award at 43rd annual festival of music and dance at Kalabharati in Vishakapatnam.[9]
