Maggie Nansubuga

Maggie Nansubuga is a Ugandan stand-up comedian. Her stagename is Maggie the Bwaiserian, sometimes stylised with "da" or "de Bwaiserian".

Career

In 2015, Maggie scooped the award for Best Stand-up Comedian during the 1st National Youth Talent Expo. When asked her secret, she said, "GOD above all." During the 2018 comedy talent search by NBS TV dubbed 'The Comic', she made it to the finals alongside Smart Ayokyayokya, Uncle Mark (who was the 1st Runner-up winning 2 Million UgX) and Omukebete who won 3 Million and a Pajero GDI car. Each of the three semifinalists took home 750,000 UgX. The grand finale was hosted by Patrick Idringi aka Salvador, a renown Ugandan comedian.[1] Maggie beat eight people to become the Funniest Comedian of the Year 2018-2019 at the Hi Skool Awards. She attributed her victory to "GOD's grace".

During the 2nd Edition of the Arise Woman! Comedy Jam in March 2020, she was among the 'Queens of Comedy' who took over the stage. Hosted by Agnes Akite, this edition featured the Best Ugandan Comediennes[2] like Richmouth, Titin Gladys, Nancy Kobusheshe, Leila Kachapizo, Dora Nakaga, Flower Girl, Sheila Katamba, Anne Kansiime and the Fun Factory ladies.

Personal life

Maggie was born in Mubende, Uganda. She stands for those with mental illness and is ready to do more for them.
