Malerkotla district

Malerkotla district is a newly formed district in Punjab state of India.It was formed after the bifurcation of Sangrur district of Punjab state. [1]

Malerkotla district is in the state of Punjab in northern India. It is the 23rd district in the Indian state of Punjab.[2] The district was carved out of Sangrur district on 14 May, 2021. [3] Subdivisions of Malerkotla, Ahmedgarh and the sub-tehsil of Amargarh will be the part of the district.[4] This is the only Muslim-Dominated town of punjab.

Malerkotla district have a Population of 429,754, of which majorly about 218,689 are Sikhs (50.9%), Muslims are the second largest numbing around 142,936 comprising (33.26%), and 65,291 are Hindus representing (15.2%) as per as the 2011 census report. The density of Malerkotla is 837 km per square.
