Mallory Stewart

Mallory Stewart is an American attorney who is the nominee to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance.

Career

Starting in 2002, Stewart served as an attorney in the Legal Advisor's Office and the principal deputy assistant secretary of state for emerging security challenges and defense policy. Stewart also worked as an attorney in the Iran-U.S. claims Tribunal in the office of claims and investment disputes.[1]

Outside of government Stewart was an adjunct assistant professor for foreign service at Georgetown University,[2] a non-resident fellow at the Stimson Center,[3] and a manager at Sandia National Laboratories.[4]

Stewart was appointed as a senior director of the United States National Security Council and special assistant to the president on January 20, 2021. She was nominated for the assistant secretary post for arms control on July 2, 2021.[5]

Personal life

Stewart graduated from Harvard University and Stanford University.[6] She lives in Washington, D.C..
