Mark Shelton (musician)

Mark Shelton (3 December 1957 – 27 July 2018) was an American musician who was the singer and guitarist for rock bands Manilla Road and Hellwell.

Shelton formed Manilla Road in 1977 and released eighteen studio albums with the band between 1980 and 2017.

[1] After the failure of The Circus Maximus project in 1992, Shelton disbanded Manilla Road, reforming them in 1994 to play local shows until the success of their appearance at Bang Your Head!!! in 2000 convinced him to start recording again.

In 2011, Shelton started the Hellwell project, which recorded two studio albums.

Under the name E.C. Hellwell, Shelton contributed a story called The Riddle Master to the anthology Swords of Steel, written by heavy metal musicians.[2]

After playing the Headbangers Open Air festival on 27 July 2018, Shelton died of a heart attack, aged 60.[3]
