Matsubarichthys inusitatus
Matsubarichthys inusitatus, the Rare velvetfish, is a species of velvetfish known only from off the coast of Queensland, Australia. This species is believed to grow to a length of 1.7 centimetres (0.67 in) SL. Since this species is only known from the holotype which is believed to be a transitional phase between a larva and a juvenile with a length of .85 centimetres (0.33 in), the potential adult length has been estimated to be twice the sample's length. This species is the only known member of its genus.
