To function, Mautic must be installed on a web server which runs PHP scripts along with a MySQL or a MariaDB backend database. Various system functionalities such as campaign delivery are set up via cron job triggers.[4][5]

Overview

Functions

Mautic is essentially geared towards the comprehensive automation of online marketing processes. The following list shows the central functions of Mautic:

  • Contact management with tracking history
  • Tagging and segmentation of contacts
  • Forms for recording contacts and leads
  • Online marketing campaigns via email or SMS
  • Landing pages, forms, emails, and campaigns builder
  • Points system for lead scoring
  • Pop-Ups (called Focus Items in Mautic)
  • Asset management for the management of media, documents, and tracking links
  • Social media monitoring and tracking of social media platforms (currently only Twitter )
  • Reports & analyzes for the documentation and evaluation of all campaigns

Email campaign delivery

One of Mautic's key features is an Email Campaign delivery platform. Emails are either pre-scheduled via a campaign builder module or sent out directly to a pre-defined segment taken from the database. Email delivery endpoints can be configured to use a standard SMTP server or to be sent via API through web services such as Amazon AWS (SES), Sendgrid and others.[4][6]

Landing page publishing

An additional key feature in Mautic is the ability to create and publish web landing pages. Users can either choose from pre-defined templates or build their own from scratch.[4][6]

Extensions

Mautic offers a REST API that can be used to connect third-party software.

History

Mautic was founded in 2014 by David Hurley.[7]

In May 2019, Mautic was acquired by the Acquia Software Company.[8][9][10]
