Michèle Rubirola
Michèle Rubirola (born 28 July 1956) is a French politician who was mayor of Marseille from July to December 2020.[1] Physician by occupation, she succeeded Jean-Claude Gaudin, who chose not to run for reelection to a fifth term in office,[2] and endorsed her long term collaborator Martine Vassal, who lost the election in June 2020.[3] Rubirola is the first female mayor of Marseille. Her grandparents came from Spain (Catalonia) and Naples.[4]

On 15 December 2020 she announced her resignation as Mayor[1] for reasons of health.[5] She was succeeded by Benoît Payan.
