Mike Kelley (politician)

Mike Kelley[1] (born March 27, 1975) is a Missouri politician formerly serving in the Missouri State Representative for the 127th District from 2011 to 2019. He was replaced by Ann Kelley on January 3, 2019, due to term limits.

As member of the Republican Party, Mike Kelley was elected into the position in 2011, and left office in 2019 after 8 years in the position due to Missouri term limits.[2]

Early life

Kelley dropped out of college due to issues of hearing loss, he has a Diploma at Lamar High School. Kelley became a general manager at a McDonald's in Lamar in 1995 and held that position until he took office. He is currently working as Chief of Staff to Missouri State Senator Bill White and was appointed by Governor Greitens to serve as one of the commissioners of MCDHH.

Missouri House of Representatives

Kelley was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2010, replacing term limited Incumbent Ed Emery, Kelley has stayed in the position since.

Committee assignments

Upon taking office in 2011, Kelley was assigned to the appropriations, international trade and job creation, ways and means, and workforce development and workplace safety committees. In 2013, Kelley became the Vice Chair of the Downsizing state government committee. In 2015, he became the Vice Chair of both the labor and industrial relations and government efficiency committees. Kelley is currently the Chair of the Special Committee for Tax Policy for Working Families, he is a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Small Business Committee, Veterans Committee, and Tax Policy Committee.

2010

In the 2010 election, Kelley defeated Bill Savard and David Jerome in the 2010 Republican Primary Election.

2012

On August 7, 2012, Kelley ran unopposed in the Republican Primary elections. In the general election on November 6, 2012, Kelley ran unopposed, having him effectively win his second term without any opposition.

2014

In 2014, Kelley ran for re-election to his 3rd term, in the Republican primaries on August 5, 2014, Kelley ran unopposed, he ran unopposed once again in the general election on November 4, 2014, securing his 3rd term in the Missouri House of Representatives.

2016

On August 2, 2016, Kelley ran unopposed in the Republican primaries, thus securing the nomination. He ran against independent George R. Parsons in the general election on November 8, 2016. Kelley won, securing his fourth and final term.

Personal life

Mike Kelley is married to Ann Kelley, and has one child, Brenden Kelley. Kelley is a Methodist and currently resides in Lamar, Missouri.[1]

Memberships

Mike Kelley is a member of the National Rifle Association, The Oakton Methodist Church, Rotary Club of Lamar, the Lockwood Chamber of Commerce, the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce, the Barton Country Chamber of Commerce, and an Assistant Area Representative at the ASSE International Student Exchange Programs. He was a former President of the Rotary Club of Lamar, and a former member of the Pleasant Hope Chamber of Commerce.[3]

Awards

Kelley has been awarded the Champion Award by the Saint Louis Regional Chapter in 2016. He has been awarded the Friend of Agriculture, Friend of Manufacturing, ACU Conservative, and Administration of Justice and Liberty Standard Awards.[3]
