Misr Spinning and Weaving Company Clock Tower

Misr Spinning and Weaving Company Clock Tower is a freestanding clock and bell tower in El Mahalla El Kubra, Gharbia Governorate, Egypt. Designed and built by Gillett & Johnston (Croydon, England). Year of bellfounding and manufacture of mechanical components: 1947 AD.[1] The pinnacle height of the clock tower from the ground to the lightning rod is 90 metres (300 ft).[2] The structural height of the clock tower from the ground to the top floor of the bells is 70 metres (230 ft).[3] Clock faces are 5.2 m (17 ft).[4] Technical supervision: Allenby, construction manager. Joseph Heron Knight, mechanical structures engineer. Sami Behairy, construction engineer. Ezzedine Abdullah, mechanical installations engineer. Mahmoud El-Tawgy, electrical installations engineer. Electrical and mechanical adjustments were made under the supervision of Gharib Bakri, department manager at the electric power station between 1982 and 2009.[5]
