Moloy Roy

Moloy Roy (Bengali: মলয় রায়) is an Indian bodybuilder, a recipient of the Arjuna Award. He won Mr. India title eight times and three times Mr. Asia titles . He even acted in Indian films, Joi Baba Felunath performing as a bodybuilder named "Gunamoy Bagchi".

Early life

Roy was born in the family of bodybuilders. His father, Monotosh Roy was a well-known bodybulider in his times, who held the Mr. Universe title in Group III Amateur Division in 1951.[1][2][3] and was the first Indian and Asian to be awarded the Mr. Universe title.[4] Like his father, Roy started his exercising at an early age, his father was his great inspiration. Actually, often bodybuilders come to his house, like his father's mentor, Bishnu Charan Ghosh which further persuaded him to be a bodybuilder.

Career

Roy was a successful bodybuilder and won several titles and awards in his career. He won Mr. India title eight times and three times Mr. Asia titles. He even acted in Indian films, Joi Baba Felunath performing as a bodybuilder named "Gunamoy Bagchi". He worked in Income tax department and even worked for a while in Rifle Factory Ishapore.[5]

Later life

Roy is having one girl child and his wife died in the year 2000.[6] In 1998, Roy's father, Monotosh Roy had set up a multigym near their house in Kolkata.[2], he takes care of it and at the age of 74 (as on 2021) he exercise daily.
