History

A version of its history is: Shah-al-Bourzat hero lived in the area at the beginning of the eighth century, and helped local mountaineers in their struggle against the Khazars.[2] The Shalbuzdag mountain was revered by the peoples of the Caucasus long before the spread of Islam. The worship of the mountains is based on the worship of local spirits, or "masters". They, according to the beliefs, could cause severe damage to the mountaineers' farms, snowball avalanches or mudflows, punish them for disrespectful attitude to the shrines, etc.[3]
