Naba Jibon Ghosh

Naba Jibon Ghosh (c. 1917 - September 23, 1936) was a Indian Bengali freedom fighter and martyr.

Naba Jibon Ghosh's house is in Medinipur. His nickname was Salikh. Father's name is Jamini Jibon Ghosh. Many of his family members were actively involved in the revolutionary movement. His brother Nirmal Jibon Ghosh killed the oppressive district magistrate Barge and was hanged in Medinipur Central Jail on October 26, 1934. His family has been plagued by government persecution. The elder brother Binoy jibon used to teach history at Medinipur College. He was unjustly shot dead in 1933. Another brother Jyoti Jibon Ghosh was also in jail. Naba jibon was first expelled from Medinipur on suspicion of being associated with the revolutionary movement. He was later arrested and beaten to death while in captivity. Rabindranath himself spoke out against the death of Naba jibon Ghosh in jail custody and the police brutality in Medinipur district. At that time, the Indian Civil Liberties Union demanded an investigation into the killing of political prisoners and human rights violations. The president of this organization was Rabindranath Tagore.[1]
