Nevada Department of Veterans Services
The Nevada State Department of Veteran Services is a Nevada state agency focused on providing veteran services for people who reside in Nevada.[1] The department is headquartered in Reno and maintains an additional office in Las Vegas.[2]
History and structure
The department was created in 2013 – prior to that, it was known as the Office of Veteran Services.[3] Since its year of establishment, the Interagency Council on Veteran Affairs plays a large part in determining policies related to the department. The following positions make up part of the council:[4]
- The Director of the Department of Business and Industry
- The Director of the Department of Corrections
- The Director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation
- The Director of the Department of Health and Human Services
- The Director of the Department of Public Safety
- The Director of the Department of Veterans Services
- The Adjutant General
- The Chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education
- The Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development
- The Executive Director of the Nevada Indian Commission
- The Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management of the Department of Administration
The department's structure consists mostly of commissions and committees, which happened to include the following: Cemetery Advisory Committees, Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) Independent Review Panel (IRP), and Veterans Services Commission.[5]
