Niari
Niari is a caste in Odisha know for their traditional work "Chudakuta" (making flattened rice) and "Muudikuta" (making puffed rice).Niari caste are divided into two clans, Nageswara and Kashyap. They use surnames such as Parida, Behera, Patra, Naik. The surname Parida meaning power, especially they belongs to the Kshatriya Varna / warrior class in India.but later most of the people started agriculture farming and business become their secondary occupation. Originally they belong to the Kshatriya Varna as per the Hindu's chaturvarna system. AS per Govt of India this Caste is belongs to General Category [1][2]
History
In history a group of unemployed and poor people mostly of the Niari Caste, and few other caste, adopted a profession, usually preparing flattened rice. It also has been offering to god as prsad.
