Night Bass
Night Bass is an independent electronic music record label based out of Los Angeles, California, founded by the DJ and producer, AC Slater.[1] Inspired by the musical genres of UK Garage, Bassline, Grime (music genre) and House, AC Slater created Night Bass as a home for these "strongly under-represented genres." What started as a monthly Los Angeles-based event in late 2014 transformed into a record label during the Summer of 2015 with the release of ‘This Is Night Bass Vol 1'.[1][2][3][4]

History
Night Bass was founded in 2014 initially as a curated event series by Aaron Clevenger, better known as DJ/Producer AC Slater.[5] As a DJ in the industry already, Slater’s vision of Night Bass was an environment and community that fit his unique style and sound. As he grew in popularity and was placed in festivals, he realized that his unique sound didn’t quite fit in with the genre of other popular artists. AC Slater recalls, “I wasn’t Dubstep, I wasn’t Trap, I wasn’t EDM, the House stage was too deep.”[6] He felt that there was no outlet for people like him who craved “a middle ground between crazy EDM festivals and the purist house scene”, and thus Night Bass was born.[7] The monthly events took place at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood and after two months BPM Magazine titled it “the most exciting new U.S dance event”.[3] By mid 2015, the event series transformed into a record label and on June 30th 2015, Night Bass put out their first release, ‘This is Night Bass Vol 1’. Vice declared this first release “the bible of bassline.”[8]
