Niron Hashai

Professor Hashai was born in Netanya, Israel. he is the son of the Bella and Yehuda Hashai. Hashai holds a B.Sc. in Information Systems Engineering from the Technion, from 1990. He received his MBA and a PhD from the Faculty of Management at Tel Aviv University in 1994 and 2002. In the years 1990-1994 he served as a project manager in Amanet[2] later he was co-founder of Meitar - an international consulting and commerce company, mostly active in nurturing business connections between Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, until 2000. In 2002 he was admitted as a lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and in 2012 received the rank of Associate Professor at the School of Business Administration at the Hebrew University. During his years in the Hebrew University, Prof. Hashai was appointed as a vice dean and head of strategy and Entrepreneurship department in the business management school. In addition, he served as the academic director of the Executive MBA program at the Hebrew University, as the Albertson-Waltuch, chair in Business Administration and as the academic director of the Asper Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the School of Business Administration at the Hebrew University.[3]

In 2017, Prof. Hashai moved to the Arison School of Business at Reichman University. As of 2019, Professor Hashai serves as head of the MBA programs, and in September 2021 he was appointed as dean of the Arison School for Business Management.[4] Prof. Hashai is also a Visiting Professor in University of Manchester and at the Dunning Research Center, in Reading University.[5] In the past, he also held guest positions in the business management school in the New York University, in the Blavatnik Governmental school at the Oxford University and in the business management school at Leeds University Business School. Professor Hashai is a co-founder of the Hebrew University Entrepreneurship Center, and of the Israel Strategy Conference (ISC)[6]

The research of Professor Hashai focuses on the theory of multinational companies, the growth processes of small high-tech companies, the relationship between product diversification and firm performance, the relationship between technological innovation and international expansion, and the growth patterns of small high-tech companies[7]

Prof. Hashai's main research contribution includes:

A. Presenting innovative models that analyze the impact of knowledge transfer within multinational corporations on location and outsourcing decisions.

B. Identification of unique stages in the international expansion processes of small and young high-tech companies.[8]

C. Analyzing the complex relationships between product diversification and firm performance.

Professor Hashai's research has been published in leading management, strategy, innovation and international business journals such as the Strategic Management Journal,[9] the Journal of International Business Studies,[10] Strategy Science,[11] the Journal of Management[12] and Research Policy.

In addition, Prof. Hashai published several books and book chapters in his research areas. Professor Hashai is a member of the editorial board of leading journals including: the Strategic Management Journal[13] the Journal of International Business Studies[14] and the Global Strategy Journal.[15] He also served as an Associate Editor at the Journal of International Management in 2019–2020.

Hashai has more than 69refereed publications, with an h-index of 19.[16]

Professor Hashai married to Einat, and has three children. He is a long-distance runner. As of 2007 he runs with the GRC running club.[17]
