Norman Ellis

Norman Ellis (17 October 1913 27 October 2005) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played three first-class matches for Auckland between 1941 and 1944.[1][2]

In his first first-class match in February 1942, Ellis, an opening batsman, made 69 and 61, putting on partnerships of 137 and 93 with Henry Walters, who was playing what turned out to be his only first-class match. In the second innings Auckland needed 125 to win in 80 minutes, and scored the runs in 67 minutes for the loss of two wickets.[3][4] Two seasons later he scored a fifty in his third innings, 63 against Wellington, in a match that Auckland again won by eight wickets.[5] He was less successful in his last three first-class innings, and finished his career with 222 runs at an average of 37.00.[1]
