One and Only (TV series)

One and Only (Chinese: 周生如故) is a 2021 Chinese period romantic television series, starring Ren Jialun and Bai Lu.[1] The series is based on the novel Yi Sheng Yi Shi Mei Ren Gu (一生一世美人骨) by Mo Bao Fei Bao. It’s available on iQiyi and iQ.com from August 18, 2021.[2] The series is followed by a modern companion series Forever and Ever. Both series were adapted from the same novel, released back to back, and follows the same characters in different eras (one historical, one modern).

Synopsis

Zhou Sheng Chen (Ren Jialun), Jr. Nanchen King, is a hero who is loyal to the country. Cui Shi Yi (Bai Lu), daughter of an esteemed family, is the appointed Crown Princess since birth. Cui Shi Yi is sent to Nanchen Royal Mansion to learn some skills. There, Cui Shi Yi falls in love, without knowing it, with Zhou Sheng Chen during her stay. However, their relationship cannot progress due to their responsibilities. When the border is at stake again, Zhou Sheng Chen has to lead the army to war, while Cui Shi Yi has to marry the Crown Prince. However, at this moment, Zhou Sheng Chen is seriously injured, and sadly dies after leaving Cui Shi Yi his last words. She subsequently killed herself on the day of her wedding.[3][4]

The series began filming in November 2020,[5] and wrapped up in January 2021.[6]
