Paani Ch Madhaani

Paani Ch Madhaani (transl. Churning of water) is a 2021 Indian Punjabi language romantic comedy film directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, produced by Mani Dhaliwal, Sunny Raj and Prabhjot Sidhu, under the banner of Dara Films Entertainment. Starring Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa, the film is a retro drama set in 1980s, in which a group of Punjabi musicians travel to London to make a mark. It was released on 5 November 2021 coinciding with Diwali holidays in India.

Production

The film was announced on 16 June 2020 by Gippy Grewal. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film have Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa in lead roles.[3] The lead cast of Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa are paired after a decade. They last appeared together in 2011 film Jihne Mera Dil Luteya.[4] The principal photography began on 6 October 2020 in London.[5] The film is a period drama set in 1980s.[6]

Release

Initially the film was slated to release on 12 February 2021 but release was deferred to 21 May 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Again due to closure of theaters release was further postponed.[7] The film was released on 5 November 2021 coinciding with Diwali holidays.[8][9]

Soundtrack released on Humble Music, is composed by Jatinder Shah on lyrics of all songs by Happy Raikoti. First track "Jean" sung by Gippy Grewal and Afsana Khan was released on 19 October.[10][11] Song "VCR" was released on 30 October.[12]

Paani Ch Madhaani opened with gross collection of ₹2.45 crore worldwide on first day of release.[13]

The film as of 7 November 2021, has grossed ₹9.25 crore worldwide.[2]
