PeopleDoc by Ultimate Software is a cloud-based HR service delivery and HR document management platform. It was named by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Human Capital Management in 2014.[1] PeopleDoc by Ultimate Software customers include American Express, Fast Retailing, Georgetown University, Match.com, Starbucks and Motorola.[2] The company has also established partnerships with SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Grant Thorton LLP, PwC and Accenture. In 2018, the France-based company was acquired by Ultimate Software, a U.S.-based HR technology company for approximately $300 million.[3] PeopleDoc continues under that name as a division of UKG, the successor company of Ultimate Software.[4]

History

PeopleDoc started as Novapost in 2007, on the campus of the HEC Business School in Paris as an idea to provide a unified digital file management system.

In 2009, the HR community took notice of the consumer document vault and asked the co-founders to design a product specifically for HR. PeopleDoc then developed cloud technology to assist HR administrative staff.

In 2014, PeopleDoc expanded its human resources software service and raised a $17.5 million Series B round led by Accel Partners.[5]

In August 2015, PeopleDoc sponsored a national HR survey, focused on the intersection of technology, HR, and how HR professionals are handling documents.[6]

In September 2015, PeopleDoc raised a $28 Million Series C round of investment led by Paris-based Eurazeo while PeopleDoc’s existing investors — Accel Partners, Alven Capital and Kernel Capital Partners — participated as well.[7]

In 2018, the France-based technology company was acquired by Ultimate Software for $300 million in cash and stock.[8]

Software

PeopleDoc by Ultimate Software has four main components to their HR service delivery. Its HR Document Management system allows for employee and HR documents to be centralized from multiple sources, including paper and existing HR systems, and stored in the cloud. PeopleDoc's Employee Portal and Case Management enables companies to automate HR processes, ensure consistency and regulatory compliance, and improve employee satisfaction. Last but not least, their Employee Onboarding portal allows for electronic documents and electronic signatures via a company branded portal.[9]
