Poetry Book Awards
The International Poetry Book Awards is an annual English language poetry book award given to the best poetry books produced by indie writers,[1] self published authors or books published by small, truly independent presses.[2] The contest was founded in 2020 by Welsh poet, novelist and photographer Dave Lewis.
It was launched on New Year's Day 2020 in Pontypridd.
The competition's judges, who include Welsh poets, have been Mike Jenkins and Dave Lewis in the first two years with famous Welsh writer John Evans judging in 2022.
After many years of finding and promoting outstanding poets through the International Welsh Poetry Competition the Poetry Book Awards aim to bring further recognition to those writers that have produced a book-length collection of their work and hope to heighten a poet’s profile by offering this new prize.
