Puran Mal

Raja Puran Mal (r. 1529-1542) was Rajput ruler of Chanderi, now in Madhya Pradesh, India, during the Mughal period and the Suri dynasty.[1][2]

He defeated Babur's Mughal army at Chanderi in 1529 and occupied the Chanderi Fort. Sher Shah Suri's attack on the fort in 1542 was rebuffed but Puran Mal was killed by conspiracists.

Conflict with Babur

The Babur attacked on india in 1527 and rajput kings of rajasthan under the leadership of Rana Sanga of Mewar failed to stop him in Battle of Khanwa. Bbaur defeanted rajputs and captured a great territory of india included chanderi. He used to treat the Hindus of Chanderi very badly. That was why Puran Mal attacked on Chanderi in 1529 and defeanted Mughal Army of Babur and captured chanderi fort.[3] After this defeanted the Mughals left chanderi and Puran Mal taken over control of Chanderi in our hands.

Conflict with Sher Shah Suri

The Mughal Empire of Babur take over by Sur Empire of Sher Shah Suri. Sher Shah Suri defeanted Babur and expanded our territory. In 1542 Sher Shah Suri reached Chanderi for capture it and a large battle fought between Sher Shah Suri and Puran Mal. In this battle Puran Mal victory and Sher Shah Suri defeanted.

Death

After the defeanted of Sher Shah Suri. He was not want to fight again with Puran Mal. He made a plan of Killing of Puran Mal. Sher Shah Suri called Puran Mal on the pretext of the treaty and He killed him by deceit.[4]
