RRR (soundtrack)

Music sessions of the film began in March 2019.[1] Suddala Ashok Teja was hired as the primary lyricist in the same period.[2] The same year, in September, he has written lyrics for three songs of the Telugu version of the soundtrack album.[3]

On 21 September 2020, he announced through his twitter account that the music-related work is paused for a while due to COVID-19 pandemic in India.[4] Music sessions were resumed in early 2021. In April 2021, Vishal Mishra joined the session and worked for a single of the album along with Keeravani at a recording studio in Hyderabad.[5] In July 2021, T-Series and Lahari Music acquired the audio rights of RRR in five languages, reportedly at an amount of ₹25 crore.[6]

On 20 July 2021, Amit Trivedi announced that he recorded a song in the soundtrack album.[7][8] The same day, Keeravani announced that, a young singer Prakruthi has recorded a song in the album.[9] The promotional music video of the first track "Dosti" was filmed at a specially constructed set at the Annapurna Studios.[10]

The first single was released on 1 August 2021,[11] coinciding with Friendship Day.[12] The music video was directed by S. S. Karthikeya[13] and was released as "Dosti" (in Telugu, Hindi and Kannada),[14][15] "Natpu" (in Tamil)[16] and "Priyam" (in Malayalam) with vocals by Vedala Hemachandra in Telugu,[17] Amit Trivedi in Hindi,[18] Anirudh Ravichander in Tamil,[19] Vijay Yesudas in Malayalam[20] and Yazin Nizar in Kannada.[21][22] In addition, N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan made cameo appearances, in the music video.[23]
