RadhaKrishn

This television serial's storyline is based on the eternal love of Radha and Krishna. The series opens with Sridama (Krishna's devotee) cursing Radha in Gōlōka. This was a part of cosmic play as it was time for Krishna to make his entry into the mortal world. Radha and Krishna are reborn in Barsana & Mathura respectively.

Krishna is destined to kill Kansa, knowing this Kansa attacks Gokul knowing that Krishna lives there. Meanwhile, Ayan (Rayana) (Radha's childhood friend) likes Radha and he tries to separate Radha from Krishna. Krishna defeats Vyomasura, a demon whose marriage was fix with Radha. Krishna takes Radha out of all humanly weaknesses like bhaya (fear), moha (greed), krodha (anger), ghrina (hatred), irshya (envy/ jealousy), ahankara (pride/ arrogance) and heenbhavna (lack of self-confidence), after defeating each human weakness Radha comes closer to Krishna.

Radha was forced to marry her childhood friend Ayan. However, this marriage is an illusion created by Radha as she can't marry anyone except Krishna as she is the incarnation of Lakshmi. Finally, Radha understands the true meaning of love after hearing the story of seven avatars of Vishnu and Lakshmi from Krishna. Radha also understands that her marriage is fake and eternally, she is Krishna's consort after Brahma completes Brahma Kalyāna (heavenly wedding) of Radha and Krishna in Goloka, just before Krishna leaves Barsana after Radha's coronation as the queen of Barsana.

In this human life apart from his love story with Radha, Krishna along with Balarama defeats the demons sent by Kamsa such as Putana, Bakasura, Aghasura, Timirasura, Sudarshana, Arishtasura, Keshi, Vyomasura, Dhenukasura, Ekadansha, Pralambasura, the evil enchanter Sammohana, and his 8 brothers who are defeated by Radha's Ashtalakshmi (8 incarnations of Lakshmi) avatars. Finally, Kans calls Krishna and Balaram to Mathura for killing them, but all in vain. Balaram kills Kamsa's eight brothers and Krishna kills Kamsa. Krishna's biological parents Devaki and Vasudeva are freed from prison and Kamsa's imprisoned father Ugrasena is crowned king.

Now, Krishna, Balarama and the Yadavas move to Dwaraka, their new home. Balarama marries Revati (Jyotishmati in her earlier life, who loved Balarama as Shesha). Rukmini sends a letter to Radha, as she wants Radha to convey her message to Krishna, so that he'll come quicker due to his sarvapriya sakhi's insistence. Krishna meets Radha and asks for her permission to marry Rukmini, to which Radha agrees. Rukmini and Krishna marry, but Rukmini keeps competing with Radha constantly. Finally, on Holi, Radha makes her realize the true meaning of Krishnprem (love for Krishna). Later, Krishna also marries Satyabhama and Jambavati. He then kills the evil Narakasura and his general Mura.

The show then focuses on the story of the Mahabharata. Balarama informs Krishna about their cousins, the Pandavas who have escaped the lac-palace incident which was organised by their evil cousins – the Kauravas, Duryodhana, his brother Dushasana, their uncle Shakuni and Duryodhana's friend Karna. He helps Panchala king Drupada arrange a Swayamvara for his daughter Draupadi, who was born from a yagya (Yagna means sacrificial fire). The third Pandava prince Arjuna wins Draupadi's svayamvara and marries her, however circumstances force Draupadi to marry all five Pandavas. The Pandavas receive a new kingdom Indraprastha, faraway from Hastinapura (the Pandavas' original home) due to the conflict with the Kauravas – eldest of whom is Duryodhana.

Krishna's sister Subhadra elopes with Arjuna, whereas Krishna kills the Pundra king Paundraka Vasudeva, an impostor. The second Pandava Bhima also kills the Magadha king Jarasandha. Pandavas soon perform Rajasuya Yagna where they gain supremacy over all of Aryavarta, however Krishna's cousin Shishupala interrupts the ceremony, only to be killed by Krishna.

Duryodhana organises a dice game with Shakuni wherein Pandavas lose all their wealth and are humiliated, while Krishna saves Draupadi from getting humiliated and disrobed in the court by Duryodhan's Order to Dushasana. At the court Bhima take a vow that he will kill all the 100 Kauravas.However, the Pandavas and Draupadi are exiled for 13 years. When they return, starts the Kurukshetra War, where Arjuna receives from Krishna, the knowledge of Bhagvad Gita. Shikhandi (who got a boon from Lord Shiva to kill Bhisma in her previous birth as Amba) kills the both Pandavas and Kauravas grandfather Bhishma and Karna, Dhrishtadyumna kills the both Pandavas and Kauravas' tutor Dronacharya, Sahadeva kills Shakuni, whereas Bhima kills all the 100 Kauravas, with the war ending with the death of the last one – Duryodhana. Gandhari curses Krishna that just like her family, Yadava dynasty will also be destroyed. On the other hand, Krishna turns Ayan into a better person.

Krishna returns to Dwarka. Pradyumna returns to Dwaraka and marries Rukmavati, and a son Aniruddha is born to them. To Jambavati and Krishna, a son Samba (Sambh) is born to her through the blessings of Lord Shiva because Jambavati was sad that she and Krishna never had a child like other wives, Sambh termed to be the reason for the Yadava destruction as cursed by Gandhari. Samba grows up to be short-tempered but loves his family, especially his mother, however, dislikes and hates Radha.

Radha's presence in Dwarka and her importance in Krishna's life angers Samba. Later on, Samba, Aniruddh and Balaram's sons Nishath and Ulmuk are sent to Gurukul along with Radha, and return after a few years, as teens. Aniruddha is kept in captivity at Shonitapura, the kingdom of Banasura, by his daughter Usha. This soon results in a war between Krishna and Banasura, wherein Shiva has to fight for Banasura due to his boon, resulting in a faceoff between Krishna and Shiva. Krishna defeats Shiva and punishes Banasura for kidnapping his grandson. Soon, Aniruddha is married to Usha while Samba is married to Hastinapur's Kaurava princess, Duryodhana and Bhanumati Daughter's Lakshmanaa. As Samba had previously joined hands with Bana, he is cursed with leprosy by Krishna and Radha cures him.

After a few instances, Radha loses her memory, everything about her Krishna, Dwaraka and others. She decides to leave Dwaraka. Krishna tries his best to regain Radha's memory, he even danced but found no results. She left. On her way, she meets the disguised Shiva and Parvati. Lord Shiva is disguised as sage Adiyogi. Radha decides to stay in his ashram. Krishna along with Samba, Jambavati and his wife leaves Dwaraka to meet Radha at sage Adiyogi's ashram. Radha's memory is regained after learning and falling in love with Krishna's Gopal avatar.

Krishna then starts to head towards hell (pātāla lōka), where he needs to fight demons. To win over hell, Krishna makes three friends namely Shesha, Vasuki and Garuda.

Then the show portrays Krishna married Devi Yamuna. Then Sambha gets punishment of his bad deeds and gets rid of the punishment using Mahamrityunjay Jaap. Radha becomes very excited for Holi and Sambha gets insulted in front of many girls by being pushed into water dyed in different colors. In anger, he challenges Radha. On the other side, Krishna gets angry with Radha on her statement of not playing Holi after Sambha's challenge to her. Krishna also tells Radha that it was going to be their last Holi on earth (Bhulōka).

Parvati wants to learn dance from Krishna and Radha and the whole universe wants to see Krishna's dance. While dancing, Shankhchuda (Shankhchur) (rebirth of Sridama) comes near Krishna and watches him from a safe distance and Krishna gets angry on himself and starts doing Vibhatsya Raas (angry dance). After many pleadings from Radha and Lord Shiva, Krishna calms down after Shankhchuda leaves. He then locks himself in his room for some days and Radha awaits him outside his room. Shankhchuda has a loving wife, Tulsi (the incarnation of Goddess Tulsi), who is his strength but he only uses her. With the help of Tulsi, Shankhchuda got immense strength. Radha in the disguise of Madhavi, goes to Tulsi to tell her what love is. Krishna takes the form of Shankhchuda and goes to Tulsi to defeat Shankhchuda. After Shankhchuda is killed, Tulsi feels cheated. She curses Krishna to become a stone (sālagrāma. Krishna becomes a stone and Radha leaves everything and lives in a Rudra temple near Dwarka. She makes an idol thinking of Krishna in the cursed stone. She promises Tulsi that if she frees Krishna, she will leave Krishna, but Tulsi refuses. Soon, the statue gets lost. The statue looked very real. It used to blink its eyes or smile. When Radha finally finds the statue, it turns into a god-like being, who introduces himself as Banke Bihari. Shiva appears and introduces Banke Bihari as a Virat Swaroop of Krishna, who will be remembered as the most loving form (Roop) of Krishna. Banke helps Radha in finding the statue and recurring Krishna. Sambha and Lakshmanaa accuses Radha to be mentally ill, and later asks her to leave Dwaraka and go to the Ashram for cure. When Radha reaches the Ashram an asura named Dantavakra kidnaps her and takes her to hell. Later Balarama comes to Radha's rescue but in vain. Tulsi remembers her past that she was a goddess and takes back her curse. But to do this she needs to change her form into a plant. She then marries Krishna in this form and is told to remain on earth in that form. This displays Tulsi Kalyāna (Tulsi's wedding). Krishna then returns, kills Dantavakra and saves Radha.

Later Radha declares herself as the biggest devotee (paramabhakta), which disturbs Hanuman (who was a great devotee and ally of Rama, Krishna's past incarnation). Hanuman gets furious as he is the biggest devotee. He decides to go to Dwaraka. On the way, he meets Vishnu's mount (Vahana) Garuda. Garuda gets furious when Hanuman praises Rama. Meanwhile, Krishna tells Radha and Balram that a very important guest is coming to Dwarka. Hanuman remembers Ram in his prays and requests him to come before him. Krishna finally decides to meet his devotee Hanuman and takes Ram avatar to meet him. Hanuman gets mesmerized to see his Lord Ram. Radha prepares a feast for Hanuman to welcome him to Dwaraka.

Hanuman relishes the feast prepared by Radha and gets happy. Hanuman introduces himself to Radha. However, the latter gets shocked to see a giant monkey (vānara). She shouts for Krishna's help. Radha asks Hanuman to prove that he is the universe's biggest devotee. Hanuman challenges that all Dwarka citizens will chant Jai Sri Ram soon. However, Radha challenges that citizens and Hanuman will chant Jai Sri Krishna. Meanwhile, Krishna thinks he will enjoy the battle of devotion. Both hanuman and Radha proves that they both are the biggest devotees. Samba takes Lakshmana to a cave and says he will create problems for Krishna and the whole of Dwarka. Laxmana asks whom did they come to meet here. Samba says a powerful person is needed against Hanuman, people will blame Radha for winning by trick. Laxmana asks who is that powerful person. Samba says that the powerful person is none other than Shani, the lord of Saturn. Laxmana says Shani dev's Vakradrishti is on him, so he shouldn't provoke Shani. He says he wants to take revenge on Krishna and Radha knows who will seek Shani's help. Shani warns Hanuman for challenging Radha and orders to leave Dwarka. However, Hanuman refuses to leave and gets ready to fight a battle with Shani and he defeated him as well as he beat Samba. Afterwards, Radha doubts Hanuman will have empathy but she was proven wrong when she saw Hanuman cared and nursed Shani back to health.

Alakshmi, the elder sister of Goddess Lakshmi who is deemed to be the goddess of misfortune and poverty. She as the goddess of in-auspiciousness and grief is the opposite of Lakshmi who is the goddess of auspiciousness and joy. As seen so far, the residents of Dwaraka are stunned when Alakshmi wreaks havoc using black magic and Balarama with Sambha and the citizens of Dwaraka confused her as Radha.

Meanwhile, Radha offers to help the injured Dwaraka citizens. However, they blame her for everything. Radha gets upset. Alakshmi sees her pain. Later, she summons her demon ally Jvarasura and orders him to make the citizens of Dwaraka sick and make Radha to be blamed. When the citizen's health deteriorates, Radha goes to Shiva and Parvati and asks for their help. Due to Radha's prayer, Parvati transfers her power to Radha and Radha turns into G Goddess Shītala sitting on a donkey who can calm down any illness. Shītala Devi then slays Jwarasura. Krishna invites Alakshmi to Dwaraka. When Alakshmi and Radha comes face to face, Radha gets shocked and asks who she is, as she looks exactly like Radha. Alakshmi said that her name is Jyeshtha, she lives in a far away village and came here to attend the worship of Goddess Shītala.

Later, Alakshmi plans to spread greed in Dwarka and destroy Dhanalakshmi. On the other hand, Sambh joins hands with Alakshmi in her evil plan. Alakshmi's evil intentions affect everyone and ignite greed in them. Alakshmi says with Jambavati's greed, she will bring poverty in Dwarka which will destroy Radha's avatar Dhanalakshmi.

After that, Krishna tells the story of Dhanalakshmi to all the citizens of Dwaraka and Radha plays a game to make Jambavati understand the meaning of Dhana Lakshmi. Later, they make a devotional call to Lakshmi. Meanwhile, Alakshmi gets angry with Radha, and hence this time she thinks that she will do something nasty which will put Radha in new trouble.

Later, Alakshmi plans to destroy Radha's avatar Dhānyalakshmi. So, Alaxmi takes the form of Radha and serves juice to guru Sandipani and his sages. However, they hate it. Alakshmi puts an act and plays Radha's role behind all this. Sandipani gets angry and tells Radha deserves his curse. But then Alakshmi acted as if she is trying to protect Radha and told Rishi Sandipani that she had prepared the pudding (Kheer) herself with the method told by Radha. Sandipani says she deserves her curse. To pacify the angry sages, Krishna recited the Blessed Lakshmi Katha.

Later, the sage seeks forgiveness from Dhanya Lakshmi on Radha's request. He blesses Radha as she wins over his heart after serving her delicious food. when Krishna starts narrating a story on Vidyalakshmi, Alakshmi creates hurdles. Alakshmi darkens Krishna's flute (Bansuri) with her evil vision. Dwaraka citizens are stunned because Krishna does not remember how to play the flute. Later, Radha decides to praise Vidyalakshmi so that Krishna is freed from Vidyalakshmi's wrath. She begins her mediation. Alakshmi erases Radha's memory. Radha forgets Krishna which shocks him. But she soon regains her memory with the help of Devi Saraswati and Krishna. Alakshmi turns full moon night into darkness. Soon, the citizens of Dwaraka start falling ill. Radha gets worried for all and tells Krishna that she cannot see Dwarka people in pain and hence she makes a big decision to get Krishna married to Alakshmi. Radha sent Krishna to Alakshmi. Later, Devi Parvati Made the Shakti of Ashta Lakshmi flow into Radha and tried to protect Krishna from the hands of Alakshmi. Radha incarnated as Lakshmi and went to Krishna and took his hand in hers. But a few words of Krishn made Mahalakshmi sad and she left Krishn to Alakshmi's hand. But Krishn was saved from Radha's Tyaag and therefore united with Krishna. Alakshmi understands the meaning of true love, feels guilty for whatever she did, and goes away. Krishna along with Radha and the whole of Dwaraka rejoice. But, the ill effects of Alakshmi's presence remain. Hence, to remove them, Shiva suggests that Krishna should perform the Ashwamedh Yagya, but Krishna refuses, as he would need someone as his consort (ardhāngini) to sit with him, and he reckoned that would create fights. Shiva summons Narada and gives him the task of making Krishn perform the yagya. Narada agrees and enters Dwaraka. At first, he meets Krishna and tries to make him understand, but Krishna refuses clearly. So, Narada persuades Radha to make Krishna perform the yagya. Radha tries to talk with Krishna, but Krishna declines her too. Hence, Radha tells Narada to bring all the Ashtabharyas (8 wives of Krishna) in Dwaraka, as only three were present in Dwaraka at the moment. Narad muni completes his task successfully. He challenges Krishna, that he will make him perform the yagya, which Krishna accepts happily. Radha feels that Rukmini is the correct choice for sitting with Krishn as his ardhangini in the yagya, as she is Krishn's first wife, but Krishna doesn't completely approve, saying that he has even more 7 queens, all with different qualities, so he can't act partial with Rukmini. All the ashtabharyas finally gather. Radha tells her opinion that Rukmini is perfect to sit with Krishna as his consort. Krishna declares, that if all the 7 other queens don't have any problem, Rukmini can perform the yagya with him. But, all the others object this, claiming that they are equally eligible for sitting with Krishna in the yagya.

Narada advised to perform Tulabharama in order to find the real wife of Krishna. On the weighing balance, Krishna sat on one side and the other queens have to put their jewellery to win Krishna. The competition starts from youngest to oldest wife, but no one could win Krishna. At last Rukmini kept a pair of bangles gifted by Krishn when Radha explained to her that wealth never matters in love, and wins Krishna. As soon as she kept the bangles, the side of Krishn was raised from the ground, but wasn't balanced. Right then, Radha came up with a tulsi leaf, and kept it on the other side, hence balancing the scale.

Radha and Krishna happily celebrate Krishna Janmashtami (Krishna's birthday) and then Krishna gets ready to tell the truth to Radha about her actual identity and about Golok the next day. But Shukracharya kidnaps Radha before she meets him and then with the help of Krishna's flute Radha finds her way to him and then the curse of 100 years separation from Krishn breaks finally and she remembers everything about Gōlōka and her true identity as a goddess and the consort of Krishna.

After they go to Gōlōka. Krishna told Radha that they will have to go to Dwaraka as they cannot mysteriously disappear from Dwaraka. So they went back to Dwaraka after giving a grand feast to all the gods. Radha decided that they should now return to Gōlōka but Krishna refused to do so as he was bound by his duties (Karma). So Radha decided to leave Dwaraka as she cannot see the end of Krishna in front of her eyes but Krishna, with the help of Parvati, finds Radha and told her to return to Dwaraka or he will never meet her again. So Radha decided that she will go with Krishna but now they will not live as lovers. After returning to Dwaraka Radha told Krishna that she will end all his pain.

While Sambha with the help of Shukracharya tried to fullfill Gandhari's curse. Later Radha tries to end Krishna's suffering by stoping the time itself! To do so Radha asked for all the power of all the gods so that she would be able to stop the time. So all the gods gave their power to Radha then, she attempted to stop the time (Kāla chakra). But Krishna stopped her from doing this and told her that if she stops time then Krishna will also get destroyed as he also told that he will give up all his divine powers. So Radha stopped and they went to Dwaraka where she put medicine on Krishna's finger and Krishna explains her that no one can change the future. He also told her that his end is destined. While Radha saw Krishna's end in her sleep, she is terrified and Krishna plans a surprise for Radhashtami (Radha's birthday) to make her forget about her nightmares.

Later Sambha tries to find out who is destined to kill Krishna with the help of Shukracharya. Later Shukracharya finds out a forest which has enough negativity to end Krishna. So Sambha tells Radha and Rukmini to go for a forest trek and they agreed later Radha feels that Krishna's end is coming close. Later she finds a hunter Jara who was destined to kill Krishna. She saw how poor was Jara so she gave him a ring which was given to her by Krishna as a sign of love. She gave the ring to Jara but Krishna finds that and gave a promise to Jara that he will teach him archery and Krishna took the ring as fee (guru-dakshina). Later Radha told Rukmini to plead to Krishna to team his promise and ask her to use her promise of wedding. Rukmini pleads Krishna to break his promise but he refused to do so. Later Krishna told Rukmini that now she don't need to be his wife. Later Krishna takes a promise from Radha that she will take all her words back. Radha agrees to that and told to stop Rukmini from going from Dwaraka. Krishna stops Radha and tells him that how she felt when Krishna broke his promise, Jara would feel the same. Rukmini also understand this but Radha was not ready to understand all this. Later Krishna burns his hand in the effort of saving Radha. After some time Krishna lets Kaptasura rule but Radha finds and kills Kaptasura.

The original music of the series is composed by Surya Raj Kamal, Gaurav Pareek, with the background score by Jitesh Panchal and Sushant Pawar. Lyrics are penned by Shekhar Astitwa, Neetu Pandey Kranti, Vikas Chauhan, Dr. Kannan, and others. The shlokas, mantras, and excerpts from various Hindu mythology scriptures and texts like Bhagavata Purana and Brahma Vaivarta Purana have been transformed into various themes. Popular devotional songs like Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari, Govind Bolo Hari Gopal Bolo, and Bolo Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki have also been recreated. Some shlokas, bhajans, songs, and background music from Swastik's another magnum opus series Mahabharat are also used in the series. Surya Raj Kamal has composed more than 20 original compositions for Raasleela of Radha-Krishn. Star Bharat in December 2018 uploaded a video consisting of 14 songs from the series till that date.[6]

The series is one of the most expensive series on Indian Television as ₹150 crore is said to have been spent by Swastik Productions. Shooting takes place in Umbergaon, a suburb in Gujarat, India. The series is mainly shot in front of a green/blue screen. Shibhapriya Sen is the set and costume designer who was inspired from their descriptions in scriptures, as well as different paintings. Surya Raj Kamal is the music director of the show who composed various themes. There are approximately 500 members of the crew.[7][8][9]

The show is dubbed and broadcast in different languages:

• The show started re-running on Star Plus from 30 March 2020[18] to 1 June 2020. The show has been airing again from 13 July 2020 on Star Bharat post COVID-19 pandemic lockdown
• The show started re-running on Star Utsav from 9 August 2021.[19][20]

RadhaKrishn opened up with 6.427 million impressions and was the sixth most watched urban television in its debut week in India, ranking in a TRP of 2.9. In first week of December 2018, it was at fifth position with 6.6 million impressions.[21]

In June, it was announced that a prequel show will be launched, highlighting the early days of Lord Krishna. It has been titled as Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki. It premiered on 19 October 2021.
