Reconquête (English: Reconquest, R!) is a far-right political party in France led by Éric Zemmour.

Formation
Zemmour at the founding rally

Zemmour formally announced his candidacy for the presidency on 30 November.[2][3] The party was launched on 5 December 2021,[4] and at the founding rally, he promised a "reconquest of the greatest country in the world".[5][6]

Ideology

Opinion polling for the 2022 French presidential election showed a sharp rise in favor of Zemmour in the weeks and months before he announced his candidacy.[7][8] His views are orientated towards the far-right[9][10][11] and they embrace right-wing populism,[12] opposition to Islam, and opposition to immigration.[13] At the founding rally, Zemmour promised to "slash immigration to almost zero", to expel unsuccessful asylum seekers and illegal immigrants, and to pull France out of NATO.[6][14]

According to the party's website, the main priorities of Reconquête are identity, reductions in immigration, security, education, lower taxes, industry and independence.[15]
