Revista de Occidente
Revista de Occidente (Magazine of the West in English) is a Spanish language magazine which has been in circulation since 1923 with some interruptions and based in Madrid, Spain. It is known for his founder, José Ortega y Gasset, a Spanish philosopher.

History and profile
Revista de Occidente was established by José Ortega y Gasset in 1923.[1] Initially its publisher was a company with the same name which was also founded by Gasset.[2] The publisher of the magazine is the Jose Ortega y Gasset Foundation based in Madrid.[3] It is published on a monthly basis.[1]
Through the magazine José Ortega y Gasset laid the foundations of modernism.[4] Some poems of Federico García Lorca were first published in Revista de Occidente.[2] From 1923 to 1936 the editor of the magazine was José Martínez Ruiz.[5] The magazine ceased publication in 1936 and after a long hiatus was restarted in 1963.[1] It was not published in the period 1977–1980.[1] It was relaunched by Soledad Ortega Spottorno, daughter of José Ortega y Gasset, in 1980.[1] It mostly features articles on humanities and social sciences as well as interviews.[1]
