Rima Rimu
Rima Sultana Rimu (born c. 2002) is a Bangladeshi activist advocating for gender equality and promoting education for Rohingya refugees through radio programs. She was named by the BBC 100 Women as one of the most influential and inspiring 100 women in the world in 2020.[1]
Career
Rimu was born in Cox's Bazaar in Bengali Province to Abdur Rahim, a farmer of Razarkul union. After her education she joined Young Women Leaders for Peace in Cox's Bazar empowering young women from conflict zones. She uses mass media tools such as radio and organizes roadside plays to promote awareness about United Nations Security Council recommendation on women, peace and security.[2] She is known for organizing classes for Rohingya ethnic minority in Balukhali refugee camp and de-escalating tension between indigenous people and Rohingya refugees and asylum seekers through dialogue.[3] Rimu was named one of the most influential and inspiring women in the world in 2020 by the BBC 100 women.[4][5]
