Rizi Timane

Rizi Xavier Timane is a Nigerian transgender man, minister, musical artist, author, producer, psychotherapist, and transgender advocate.[1][2][3]

Early life

Timane was born in Lagos, Nigeria. At age 8 he suffered exorcisms and other reparative therapies from his family members and church in a bid to change him after he came out as a trans boy. He later underwent 20 surgical procedures and hormonal treatments abroad to transition from a female to a male.[4]

Education and career

He studied Business management in London and Los Angeles.[5] He has a Master's in social work from the University of Southern California and studied religion, social justice, and activism at the Claremont School of Theology. He is a full-time Transgender Health Program manager at St. John's Well Child and Family Centre in Los Angeles.[6]

Achievements

In 2013, he published a memoir titled "An unspoken Compromise" which became Amazon’s bestselling memoir under the Lesbian and Gay category.[7] In 2014 he released an album titled "Love is Stronger" and also launched a Trans Surgery Gender Grant to assist five transgender people with their gender declaration procedures.[8] He is married to Christina Ros, a model. In 2017, they celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary and 10 years together.[9]
