Biography

Consort Sin Sugui was born as the daughter of Sin Seon-Gyeong and Lady Han of the Cheongju Han clan. Not much is known about her birth date and place.

On 23 August 1456, lunar calendar, she was selected to become the concubine of Crown Prince Uigyeong and was granted the title Royal Consort So-hun (rank junior 5; 소훈, 昭訓),[4] then entered the palace in 19 October 1456.[5] The Consort later entered the palace on October 19th, lunar calendar, of that same year.

In 1457, the Crown prince soon passed away and left no issue with the Consort. Her husband was honored as king, the Consort's rank promoted to the second rank of the King’s concubine; Royal Consort Suk-ui (rank junior 2; 숙의, 淑儀). She later died on May 16th of the lunar calendar in 1476 (the 7th year of King Seongjong).

Royal Consort Suk-ui’s father is buried with Ryu In-ho (류인호, 柳仁濠) of the Munhwa Ryu clan in Seoul Tangible Cultural Property No. 78 entitled as “The cemetery of Sin Seon-gyeong and Yu In-ho” (신선경과 유인호 묘역).
