Rubell Museum

The Rubell Museum, opened in 2019 is located in Miami, Florida, houses the private contemporary art collection of Mera and Don Rubell, the Rubell Family Collection.[1][2]

History

Don Rubell is the brother of entrepreneur Steve Rubell, of Studio 54.[3][4] In 1993, the 7,200-work Rubell Family Collection was started, and it was originally housed at a former Drug Enforcement Agency building in the Wynwood neighborhood.[5]

The Rubell Museum opened in 2019.[5] At the time the museum opened in 2019, it started an annual artist-in-residence program.[5] The first artist enrolled in the program was painter Amoako Boafo.[5]
