S. P. Chakravarti
Siddheshwari Prasad Chakravarti was an Indian engineer and educator. He was known as the father of Electronics and Telecommunications engineering education in India.[1][2] He served as Head of the Electrical engineering department at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore,[3][4][5] where he established the Communication Engineering Laboratories,[6][7] and as the founding Principal of Government Engineering College, Jabalpur, where he established the first Electronics & Telecommunications engineering department of India.[8][9] He also served in the Defence Research and Development Organisation as Dy. Chief Scientific Officer.[10] He was educated at the University of Lucknow and the Imperial College, London. He was a distinguished fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences,[11] and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.[12] The State Technological University of Madhya Pradesh has instituted a gold medal in his memory.[13]
