Saagar (album)

Saagar (Urdu: ساگر‎, literal English translation: sea) is the debut album released by Pakistani pop band, Fuzön in 2002.[1][2] The album is noteworthy for embedding pensive, meditative classical ragas with soft rock and jazz, and is widely considered a pathbreaking album for the way it revolutionised Pakistani music by introducing fusion music.

Overview

In an interview, Momina stated: " I grew up listening to Pakistani classical music and western pop music. Since the beginning, I have been interested in creating fusion. I set up a music studio and joined hands with the other two founders and formed the band.”[3]

With their debut album, Fuzön became the first Pakistani band to release an album simultaneously, both in India and Pakistan.[4] They went on to win multiple awards for this album: Best Emerging Talent and Best Video (for Khamaj) at the Lux Style Awards, as well as Best Composers and Best Ballad at Indus Music Awards.[4]
