Searching 2

Searching 2 is an upcoming American thriller computer screen film written and directed by Will Merrick and Nick Johnson, from a story by Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. It is a sequel to the 2018 film Searching. The film stars Storm Reid, Nia Long, Joaquim de Almeida, Tim Griffin, Daniel Henney and Amy Landecker.

Development

On August 14, 2019, a sequel was announced to be in development. Aneesh Chaganty clarified that the story will not "follow the same characters or plot line as the original."[2] On November 20, 2020, during an interview with Slashfilm, the producer Natalie Qasabian talked about the film and said: "We’re very excited to say that it’s heavily in progress. I think we can say this. Because of the pandemic, we’ve sort of pushed the shoot, but, like the first movie, we’re spending a lot of time pre-vising the whole movie out, and we’re deep into that process right now. We have seen portions of the movie and we’re very, very excited for it.".[3] On January 13, 2021, it was announced that Will Merrick and Nick Johnson would create the sequel in their directing debut.[4] On March 3, 2021, it was announced that Storm Reid was in conversation to star the film.[5] On April 7, 2021, Nia Long joined to the cast of the film.[6]

Filming

Principal photography began on March 30, 2021 and was expected to concluded on May 30, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.[1]
