Serap Güler

Serap Güler (born 7 July 1980) is a German politician from the Christian Democratic Union. She has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 2021.

Early life

Serap Güler grew up as the child of Turkish guest workers in Germany. She graduated from University of Duisburg-Essen.

Political career

She was elected to the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in the 2012 North Rhine-Westphalia state election.

In the 2021 German federal election, she contested Leverkusen – Cologne IV but came second to Karl Lauterbach. She was elected to the Bundestag on the state list.[1]

Political views

She is a part of the social wing of the CDU, and is a member of the Christian Democratic Employees' Association.[2]

As a practising Muslim, Güler opposes abortion.[3] She opposes children being forced to wear hijab.[4]

Güler is a critic of President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.[5]
