Shandan Great Buddha Temple
Shandan Great Buddha Temple[1] (Chinese: 山丹大佛寺), or Shandan Grand Buddha Temple,[2] is a Buddhist temple located in Qingquan Village, Qingquan Town, Shandan County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province.[3] It was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty (425 A.D.),[4] previously known as the Tufo Temple (土佛寺), and the statue of Shantan Seated Buddha is thirteen zhang (about 43.33 meters) high.[5]

History
In 1971, the more than 1000 year old Shandan Great Buddha Temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and the halls were occupied by the residents.[6] The current buildings of the temple were rebuilt in 1992.[7]
