Shefali Shah
Shefali Shah (née Shetty), is an Indian actress who works in Bollywood films.[1][2] After making her film debut with a minor role in the 1995 drama Rangeela, she played a supporting role in the crime film Satya. Her performance in Satya received critical praise and won her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress and a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 44th Filmfare Awards. She was later nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the family drama Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005) and for her performance in Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).

In 2007, she received critical acclaim and won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Last Lear. She starred in the 2015 dramedy Dil Dhadakne Do, receiving several nominations for Best Supporting Actress.[3] She, along with the main cast won the Screen Award for Best Ensemble Cast for the film.
Early life
Shefali Shah (née Shetty) is the only child of Sudhakar Shetty and Shobha Shetty.[4] She spent her early childhood at the RBI quarters in Santacruz, Mumbai, where she attended Arya Vidya Mandir.
Career
In the early days before starting her career in Bollywood, Shefali acted in a Gujarati stage drama called Ant Vagarni Antakshari. She delivered a very powerful performance.
Shah made her television debut with the show Aarohan that aired on Doordarshan.[5] She made her film debut with Rangeela (1995),[6] although she only had a few scenes in the film. She ventured into television with the serial Kabhie Kabhie.[7]
She starred in the critically acclaimed film Satya (1998), for which she received the Star Screen Award Best Supporting Actress and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Critics.
Shah starred in the film Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005) as Amitabh Bachchan's wife. The film was directed by her husband Vipul Shah. Shah's breakthrough performance was as Ria Verma in the internationally acclaimed Monsoon Wedding. She graduated to mature roles as Kasturba Gandhi in Gandhi, My Father and as Anil Kapoor's wife in the 2008 film Black & White. She won a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear. In 2010, she took to the stage opposite Kiran Karmarkar in the Hindi version of Chandrakant Kulkarni's play Dhyanimani; Bas Itna Sa Khwab.[8]
In 2019, Shefali Shah starred in a web television series called Delhi Crime, which was written and directed by Richie Mehta.[9]
Shah was seen in the 2021 Netflix original anthology series of four short stories Ajeeb Daastaans, opposite Manav Kaul.
Currently she is working on various other projects such as Human, a web series to be released on Hotstar, directed by her husband Vipul Shah. She is also starring in Doctor G opposite Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh and also working opposite Alia Bhatt in the upcoming movie Darlings.
Shah is also fond of painting and cooking and she opened a restaurant named Jalsa located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Launched in 2021, some of thitse interiors are painted by her.[10]
Personal life
Shah was married to television actor Harsh Chhaya.[11][12] After their divorce, she married director Vipul Amrutlal Shah. She has two sons with Shah.[13][14]
