Société française de constructions mécaniques

The Société française de constructions mécaniques (SFCM), succeeds the Anciens Établissements Cail.[1]

It is a public limited company with a capital of 12,000,000 francs. It was incorporated on August 30, 1898. The head office is in Paris, 21 rue de Londres, then 14 rue Cambacérès. The general management is at 28, rue de Lille in Douai and subsequently in Denain Nord .

The factories are located in Denain and Douai in north France and the foundries in Albert in the Somme. The Denain plant covers an area of 50 hectares and employs 6,000 people. In 1958, the company merged with Fives-Lille to give birth to the company Fives-Lille-Cail.

Viaduc des Fades

On 25 July 1901, the Société Française de Constructions Mécaniques was declared the successful bidder for the Fades viaduct, large railway bridge construction site between 1901 and 1909 above the Sioule in the Puy-de-Dôme.
