Sonia Ben Ammar

Sonia Ben Ammar (born 19 February 1999)[1] is a French model and singer. In November 2019, she released her debut EP SONIA.[2]

Early life

Ben Ammar was born in Paris, France. She is the daughter of film producer Tarak Ben Ammar and actress Beata (née Sonczuk).[3] Her mother is of Polish descent.[4] Her Tunisian-born father was raised Muslim, by his Arab-Muslim father and by his French Catholic mother of Corsican descent who converted to Islam.[5][6][7] Her paternal great-aunt (paternal grandfather's sister) Wassila Ben Ammar was the wife of the first President of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba.[5]

She graduated from the American School of Paris and started attending the University of Southern California in fall 2017.[8]

Career

In 2012, Ben Ammar had a role in the stage musical 1789: Les Amants de la Bastille.[9] In 2013, she made her acting debut appearing in the film Jappeloup. In 2016, she signed with IMG Models and has since modeled for Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Carolina Herrera, Topshop, Nina Ricci and Chanel.[10][11][12][13] She has also appeared in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar Arabia, Love, and L'Officiel.[8][12]

In 2019, Ben Ammar had her musical debut with the music video "Joyride", which premiered on Billboard in September 2019.[14] In the same year, she released her self-titled debut EP SONIA. In September 2020, Ben Ammar was cast in an undisclosed role on the fifth Scream film, which was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.[15][16] The film will be released on January 14, 2022.[17][18]
