Stella Savvidou
Stelutsa "Stella" Savvidou (born 11 February 1996)[1] is a retired Australian-Cypriot artistic gymnast, who competed for the UCLA Bruins gymnastics team.[2] She competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games,[3] the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2015 European Games.[4][5] She devoted 20 years as an elite athlete. Stella has lived in Cambridge UK, Sydney Australia, Melbourne Australia and is currently living in London, England, United Kingdom.

Family Life
Stella's parents are a professor and doctor. Her father is Professor John Roberts and her mother is Dr. Chrysanthi Savvidou. She speaks Greek.[6]
Personal
Stella's favorite apparatus are floor and vault. She says her biggest athletic thrill was the Victorian State team winning the 2015 Australian National Championships. Stella admires Romanian gymnast Catalina Ponor.[7]
Outside of being a gymnast, Stella is an anthropology major and on the pre-med track. She currently works in a research lab. Her career objective is to be an orthopedic surgeon or cardiothroacic surgeon. Her favorite hobbies include reading, swimming and listening to music.[8]
Stella has 3+ years of experience in medical research including heart failure, myocardial architecture, outcomes from cardiac mechanical support devices, heart transplantation, minimally invasive procedures and chronic kidney disease. Along with that, she has 2+ years of experience as a UCLA Bruin Beans Board Member (Core Kidney - clinical and outreach organization). Stella has obtained her Imperial College London Masters in Research concentrated in Cardiovascular Sciences. She has conducted research concentrated in arrhythmias as well as the relationship of obesity and the hearts' function. [9]
Stella graduated in 2020 from the University of California Los Angeles with her Bachelor of Science (Pre-Medical). She also has a Masters degree in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences at Imperial College London 2021.[9]
Club
Stella competed for Cyprus at the 2015 World Championships. She was an All-around finalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Stella placed second in the all-around and vault at the 2014 national championships. After doing so, Stella has won the Australian Level 10 national vault and bars titles in 2015 and helped lead her Victorian State team to its second-straight team championship. She was named the 2015 Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award-winner for Sporting Excellence. In 2014, she was awarded the Senior Gymnast of the Year and Senior School Sports Achiever of the Year at Methodist Ladies College.[10]

2018
Stella had a wrist injury therefore sat out most of the season. At the meet against Arizona, Stella performed a one-armed exhibition floor routine, scoring 9.825.[13]
2017
Stella competed on bars in all 14 meets. Her career-high-tying score was a 9.9 on bars to place third in back-to-back meets vs. UNC and vs. Cal. She recorded a career-high 9.9 on bars at Utah as well. She scored a 9.8 on her first collegiate vault on February 20 and matched that score on February 25. Stella scored a new career-high of 9.925 on floor to place second vs. Stanford. She recorded a pair of 9.8s at ASU on bars and floor. She scored a then-career-high 9.7 on floor and added a 9.8 on bars at Oregon State. Against Arkansas, she earned fourth place on bars with a 9.85.[14]
2016
She tied for fourth on bars at Pac-12 Championships with a career-high 9.875. Scored 9.875 on bars to place fourth against Oklahoma (a top notch gymnastics team). Competed on bars and beam vs. Stanford/Georgia. She competed on beam for the first time February 27 vs. ASU and tied for third place with a 9.825. In an exhibition vs. ASU, Stella hit a 9.875 on bars. She made her UCLA debut in an exhibition performance on bars at Arizona, scoring 9.75.[15]
