Reception

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 80% based on 30 critics, with an average rating of 7.40 out of 10. The site's consensus reads: "Stop and Go doesn't land all of its punchlines, but this road trip comedy largely transcends its limitations thanks to the chemistry between its two leads".[3]

Bobby LePire of Film Threat wrote "Stop and Go are made up of the usual tropes one find's in a road trip comedy: kooky characters, unexpected and outrageous obstacles (they need to track down Nana’s dog) that deviate from the initial quest, and certain character moments are easy enough to guess; I know how vague that sounds, but I don't want to spoil anything more than necessary".[4]

Lisa Kennedy of Variety have praised the performances by Whitney Call and Mallory Everton calling them an "irrepressible rapport".[1]

According to Trace Sauveur of The Austin Chronicle, the "[m]ost frustrating is that these clearly talented comedians and writers are stuck with lame gags".[5]

Adding to the criticism, Beatrice Loayza of The New York Times called it a "mostly miss".[6]
