Suleiman Elias Bogoro (Born on 6 June 1958) is a professor of Animal Science, specializing in Biochemistry and Ruminant Nutrition, presently serving as the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Nigeria.[1][2]

Early life and education

Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, a local of Gwarangah in Bogoro Local Government Area of  Bauchi State. He holds bachelor's degree in (B.Sc. in Agriculture) from the University of Maiduguri. After that, he acquired an M.Sc. in Animal Science from Ahmadu bello University, Zaria, later he earned a Ph.D. in Animal Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (A.B.T.U) with composite research and bench-work similarly divided among A.T.B.U, The Rowett Research Institute, Aberdeen, Scotland, and The Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.[1][3][4]

Career

Executive secretary, TETFund, Nigeria

Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro was first named as the Executive Secretary of TETFund in April 2014 by President Goodluck Jonathan. In his first residency, his advantage in innovative work prompted the production of the Department of Research and Development at TETFund.[5][6][7] He was disengaged on 15 February 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari, who later restored him as Executive Secretary on January 21, 2019, having been examined and found not guilty. The Federal Government expressed that his disengagement "ab initio" was done in error.[8][9][10]

Professor of animal science

Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro became a professor in 2003. He has several publications with local and international journals and has mentored postgraduate understudies through master and Ph.D. programs, with 14 of them now Professors. He has conveyed more than seventy high-profile public lectures in very diverse areas of development challenge and policy, including giving 8 convocation lectures harping on compelling subjects mainly on research push and funding of Nigerian public and private universities.[11]

Professional membership & fellowship

Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro has gained membership in several notable professional bodies such as; Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, British Society of Animal Science, Nigerian Society of Animal Production, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Society for Peace Studies, and Practice, Presidential Committee on Alternative Livestock Feed Formulation and Food Security, Nigerian Journal of Animal Production, Journal of Arid Agriculture and Science forum.[12]

He has also been awarded Fellowship in several organizations, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Society for Educational Management, Nigerian Academy of Science, Nigerian Society for Animal Production, Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, and Nigerian Institute of Animal Science.[1][13]
